Are Commercial Weight Loss Programs More Effective Than Customized Ones?

A Recent analyzing study indicates that some of the times best strategy to adapt in order to lose weight effectively is none other than commercial way of fat loss for idiots! Most of us were under impression that customized weight loss plans would be more powerful as they are supposed to cater the specific individual needs of body during weight loss quest. However, the results of this present study has been startling.

A team of researchers from UK recently published these results. They have discovered that people have shed off more weight and that too at comparatively lower costs while using commercial programs meant for weight loss (like weight watchers and slimming world) in comparison with the success of people who opted for customized weight loss program using the assistance of specialty staff.

The Study

British researchers included and studied the data of 658 people for weight loss programs. The observed time span was of 12 weeks. While some of the participants had enrolled for commercial programs to lose weight like weight watchers; others had gone for  a primary care-based weight loss plan, which had been specifically designed based on the individual requirements. In the said study, there were also some people who hadn’t enrolled for any of such weight loss programs but offered free coupons to attend gym routines.

Findings

At the conclusion of the said study period, researcher had found that although everyone had been successful in losing some weight, the amount of lost weight in this monitored time has been significantly different among different people. Researchers have associated this significant difference with different diet programs or weight loss programs.

  • People who did Weight Watchers lost 4.43 kilograms (about 9.8 pounds) over the 12 weeks,
  • People who did the primary-care guided plan lost 1.37 kilograms, on average (about 3 pounds), according to the study.

After following these people for a period of one year, the team of researchers have found that…

  • All of the above mentioned weight loss programs resulted in weight loss.
  • However, people opting for Weight Watchers program lost comparatively more weight than people who were offered the free gym coupons.
  • The people in the Weight Watchers group lost about 2.3 kilograms (about 5 pounds) more than the people in the primary care-based programs.
